South Carolina National Guard/Air Guard is spread very thin in the last 8 years, with many troops in Afghanistan and in Iraq. South Carolina State Guard’s mission is to provide internal security, disaster relief, and protection from civil disorder. Our State Guard is under funded, under trained, and most are up there in years. The State Guard needs more training with the SC National Guard, Sherriff’s Departments, and emergency personal. As of right now the SC State guard has to buy their own uniforms and equipment!
